I am reading Echart Tolle’s The Power of Now and came across a sentence I wish I could learn to master:
“Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find you are here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally.” (p82)

If U could remove yourself from the situation totally or change it or accept it totally , why wud it be intolerable

This is a great quote. Once we realize and can live this then we are in a position of living a joyful life.

Deep Blue Sea: Exactly!!! The point he was trying to make was that no situation is intolerable; you always have 3 options…of course as Aurous said, easier said than done. The thing with me is that i keep forgetting i don’t have to put up with an unpleasant situation.
Dandoon: though takes a little practice to implement
Aurous: agree
tobeme: yeah, but how does one totally accept an intolerable situation?

I wont remove my self from the situation! I would rather change things from my side in order to accept it fully the way it should be!

hi darya. i’ve read your 100 answers to 100 Q. it was well thought answers. I appreciate your sense of humour. keep it that way. and your qouting from Tolle is wonderfull. so he tells us that there is another way beside fight or flight, and that would be accepting “what is” through non resistance action, through objective observation of our own feelings, emotions, and inner movements no matter what, and perhaps later on the real change will follow within us on a more practical level; I mean, if we fall into same situation we will act differently and most probably with a sense of being the witness more than being ” the victim of situation” who has to put up with it or tolarate it.

Do you like the book so far!!!
try to read Charles Hannels “Master Key system”…most of the new writers like Echart Tolles have gotten their ideas from people like Charles Filmore, Hannels, James Allen, etc.
